Stem Cell Therapy is an alternative way to treat severe osteoarthritis, or acute injury in dogs.  During stem cell therapy treatment, first the affected joints are identified.  Then, time is scheduled to remove several small vials of fat from your dog, where it is treated in a sterile lab and the stem cells are extracted.  Fat is a better source of stem cells than bone marrow, because it contains up to 500x more stem cells per gram.  Also, the stem cells are directly from your own dog, so there is no risk of stem cell rejection.
